Designer Gunite swimming pools give you the advantage to design your own pool to match your home!
To build one of these pools, the construction crew digs a hole, assembles a framework grid with Y8mm steel reinforcing rods (rebar) The rebar rods are spaced at about 200mm² and secured at each intersection. When the grid is in place, the crew sprays a heavy coating of gunite, a mixture consisting of cement, sand and fine stone, around the rebar, under high pressure.
What is Gunite?
Gunite is sprayed concrete through a hose and pneumatically projected at high velocity onto a surface, as a construction technique. Concrete is sprayed and compacted at the same time, due to the force of the compressed air. It can be sprayed onto any type or shape or surface, including vertical or overhead areas. Gunite is commonly used for application of in-ground or above ground swimming pool installation. Gunite swimming pools are typically more durable and longer lasting than other conventional methods as hand packed concrete.
Additionally, the use of gunite allows for customisation in shape, depth, and style. Gunite pools are often referred to as designer swimming pools. As the gunite hardens, it becomes extremely durable and can withstand pressures up to 4,000 PSI. This makes gunite suitable for even the deepest of pools. When built by a knowledgeable contractor and properly maintained, a gunite pool structure can last for 100 years or more.

- Gunite pools tend to be more expensive than fiberglass shells due to the labor-intensive process.
